Yes it is terrific....!
K.B. CANHAM from MESA, Arizona, USA

Take a closer look and discover the difference!

K.B. Canham large Format Cameras incorporates modern aerospace technology and domestically grown black walnut to create a classic wooden folding camera with the stability of a studio camera. These multi-featured, yet light-weight modular systems are available in four standard formats: 4x5, 5x7, 4x10 and 8x10. The 4x5, 5x7 and 4x10 can be quickly and easily interchanged on the same base, for greater flexibility. The 8x10 accepts 4x5, 5x7 and 4x10 backs and it is convertible to 7x17. As an added feature most roll film backs can be inserted under the groundglass on the 4x5 model with the aid of a ground-glass protector. Due to the unusual back design, inserting a roll film back will never fatigue the springs.

CAMERA MOVEMENTS

Camera movements include swing, rise and fall, base and axis tilt on the front standard. Base tilt, swing and lateral shift are on the rear standard. each knob and lever has been designed and positioned for ease of use. The Spirit levels are conveniently located in the handle bases on top of the rear standard. One area of stability is ensured by the unicque focus locking method employed on all K.B.Canham Cameras. The focus rails fasten directly to the focus tracks using cam locks, which makes the camera solid at all extensions for life.

HARDWARE

The metal parts are 60 series aluminum, hard black anodized, which makes the surface of the aluminum, non reflective, as hard as stainless steel and keeps the weight of the 4x5, 5x7 and the 8x10 a mere 9 pounds. No metal castings, stampings or extrusions are used. On a K.B.Canham camera, every metal part is made one at a time from stock material; on numerical-control machine centers. This method ensures that each part is accurate to 0.0003".

WOODEN PARTS

The wooden parts are all U.S grown black walnut, which is first kiln dried and then air dried to assure its stability. Walnuy has been used for many years in fine wood work due to its beauty, strenght and natural stability. A hand rubbed oil and wax finish protects and enhances the walnut's natural patina. During camera development the K.B.Canham cameras have gone from the deserts of Arizona to the humidity of New Orleans and the sub-zero temperatures of the arctic without any problems.

BELLOWS

The bellows is made from coated nylon in a tri-pleat design. This material and design allows maximum flexibility with a minimum of sag. It is durable and very weather resistant. A wide-angle bellows is available for use with ultra wide-angle lenses. The ground glass on all models, has a 1/2" grid to facilitate alignment. The 4x5 is also marked for roll film: 6x6, 6x7, 6x9 and 6x12.
